Responsibilities

Position Summary:


This role will support engineering design and development activities.

Essential Duties: (This list is not exhaustive and other duties may be assigned)

  • Lead and support the engineering activities for large scale product development programs by investigating feasibility, performing design using 3-D modeling software, conduct layout review and 2D drawing creation.
  • Analyze and resolve complex problems independently or with minimal guidance. 
  • Create part specification requirements and BOM.
  • Negotiate with surrounding component business units and suppliers. 
  • Perform cost analysis, strength calculations and material selection.
  • Use best practices and knowledge of internal or external business issues to improve product and/or processes. 
  • Search new ways to increase overall efficiency, utilize up-to-date technology, and reduce design and parts costs.
  • Travel to client sites required.

 



Qualifications

Qualifications:          

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 5+ yrs relevant industry experience or Bachelor’s degree and 7+ years relevant industry experience or Associate’s degree and 8+ years relevant industry experience.
  • Education with the following specialties preferred: Mechanical, Mechanical Technology, Aerospace, Automotive, Manufacturing.
  • Experience using 3-D modeling software tools
  • Strong understanding of DFM (Design for Manufacturing) required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS office.

Preferred Skills:  

  • CATIA V5 preferred

 

 

BS Degree in ME/EE. Design Engineer with over 8 years of engineering experience in creation of required components per specialty (concept, specification setting and layout creation and negotiation capability). 6 years of related experience may be substituted for required degree. Researches, plans, and designs parts/systems within area of specialty, including design feasibility and cost analysis, strength calculations, material selection, part construction, part specification, scheduling/coordinating activities involved in prototyping, fabricating and manufacturing of assigned products and systems. Designs, develops and analyzes components, parts and systems in area of specialty per established quality, cost and performance standards as well as regulatory and development schedule guidelines, implementing design ideas/features by preparing, refining and issuing complex 2D and 3D drawings/layouts, calculations and analysis and confirming prototype part compliance with drawing specifications, product limitations or changes in design trends.
